Salon Owners United was founded as a response to the 2020 covid pandemic.  It was evident at the time that many businesses were disillusioned about the lack of support and representation that was available at the time and needed something more effective and proactive in order to survive what was to become the longest disruption to our industry in living memory. 

I knew salon owners didn't need help with cutting and colouring hair; they already have that skill in abundance. Instead, I wanted to draw upon the wealth of commercial business experience gained when I cut my teeth in the commercial world to help others.  I was also able to tap into the many network of lawyers, accounts, tax advisors, political contacts and other connections made along the way in a way that could provide a pool of resources so wide every base was covered.

I was also frustrated at insurers for denying genuine business interruption claims preferring instead to watch businesses go under. I was not prepared to let this happen and knew I first needed to unite salon owners, so I could spearhead the fight with RLK legal team to get all justice. We went on to win landmark victories for salon owners which we are still fighting and winning!  This level of success and support was not forthcoming otherwise so I am proud to say this was and is still a unique victory!
